The A1 planting team from Pricewaterhouse Coopers

Our planting season is going really well – particularly so because of the fantastic teams we had join us last week – Conservation Volunteers Australia (sponsored by Woodside – thank you Woodside!), the V Gang from UWA and a fantastic team from Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

V day for UWA students

A group of UWA students gave their time to Cottesloe Coastcare as their volunteer commitment. We are in the middle of our annual planting effort so we really appreciated the group’s enthusiasm and excellent work.

CCA & UWA students join forces

UWA Student’s and Cottesloe Coastcare ioin Forces on the 21st of February. Residents from the University of Western Australia’s Trinity College joined with volunteers from the Cottesloe Coastcare Association and Coastcare officers Kate and Sharon to carry out rehabilitation works at Vlamingh Memorial in Cottesloe.

Thinking 50 years ahead!

Luise Bussert is a Communication Design Student at Potsdam University, Berlin, Germany. She recently had a 4 month internship at Art Gallery of WA as part of her studies. We appreciated her help with Coastcare work.

The fishing line menace

It’s holiday time and (sustainable) fishing is part of holiday fun. But please remember a few important points when you are fishing. Our wildlife, in the water and in the air are killed, inadvertently, in large numbers each year, by people fishing.

Progress at our new project

You will see from the attached photos that we are busy at our new foreshore (Coastwest funded) project at the bottom of Napier Street.

Party time

On Sunday 4th December twenty five Cottesloe Coastcarers and friends met on the Cottesloe Civic Centre lawns for our Christmas get-together. It was a superb evening after a very hot day.

Yellow Admiral butterflies have arrived!

2011 has been a great year for Yellow Admiral butterflies in Cottesloe. In May 2009, with help from Robert Powell, I sewed seed of a local annual – Native Pellitory (Parietaria debilis) at Cottesloe Native Garden

Success – Weedy Seadragons protected in WA!

Friday 24 June 2011 the WA Fisheries Minister announced that weedy seadragons (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) will be declared a protected species under new regulations to be put to the WA parliament.
