Our wonderful nature discovery space

Our wonderful nature discovery place at Vlamingh is almost finished. Nature Based Play’s amazing team have turned a weedy degraded site into a fun and exciting place for kids to explore. There are rocks to climb, cubbies to build, a baby humpback whale, a scary snake and a fairy bridge, plus beautiful carvings of  special creatures like our weedy seadragon. Our plantings from last year are looking great and we will be planting again this year.

Special thanks to the team from Nature Based Play who had the inspiration for the site and made it all happen. Thanks also to the Town of Cottesloe for their support and our local MP Celia Hammond for funding from the Community Environment Fund.

And here’s the story – from inspired design to clearing, weeding, planting, constructing, carving, creating and finally a fence!

We can’t wait to open it up for everyone to explore. Hopefully playgrounds will be open again soon.
