Our wonderful nature discovery space is now open!

Our wonderful nature discovery place at Vlamingh opened on Saturday July 25th. Robyn and Mike helped Mayor Phil Angers cut the ribbon and declare the space open.  It was an immediate success for the kids who climbed on logs, explored shady tunnels and played in the shells and corals in the rhizolith. Everyone joined in to plant 50 local native plants.

The team from Nature Based Play came along. They were the inspiration for the amazing design and for then turning a weedy degraded site into a fun and exciting place for kids to explore. There are rocks to climb, cubbies to build, a baby humpback whale, a scary snake and a fairy bridge, plus beautiful carvings of  special creatures like our weedy seadragon. All our efforts weeding, planting and watering paid off  with our plants looking great.

Town of Cottesloe were our partners – special thanks to Adeline, Shaun, Bruno, Clayton and Troy. We are very grateful for  funding support from our local MP Celia Hammond through the Community Environment Fund, Cottesloe Film Festival and also Minderoo Foundation.

And here’s some of the fun….
