Fantastic news about our Nature Discovery Space

Fantastic news!

October 2022 update. Great excitement – yesterday Nature Based Play won a National Australia Parks and Leisure award for the best Playspace (under $500,000) for our Cottesloe Nature Discovery Space at Vlamingh. CCA’s involvement and continued commitment to the space is an integral part of the award.

Earlier in the year Nature Based Play, the amazing group that created our  Nature Discovery Space won the State award at the Parks & Leisure WA awards. The prize is for 2022 Best Playspace Award in WA under half a million dollars. There were many very impressive play spaces in that category, with much larger budgets than our ours (ours was approx $130,000).

We know the space is a winner but now it has been confirmed – great news!
CCA has worked in the Vlamingh area for 17 years but several years ago we had a dream to include a small, low key, quiet space for children to explore and create, to build a cubbie and look for skinks on rocks or find a tiny carving on a log.
We are very grateful to Nature Based Play for converting our dream ideas to reality. We loved working with their team and we are thrilled with the award. We keep working at the area and will plant more seedlings this winter.
Thanks also to Town of Cottesloe – particularly to Adeline and Dave Derwin, Bruno, Troy and Matt for believing in the project and for their energy, ideas and support. We are also grateful for funding received via the office of Celia Hammond M.P and Mindaroo Foundation. Do call in when you are walking past!
