Plant description

A hardy coastal species that grows to 5 m and can develop a dense canopy right down to the ground. The canopy is a protection from sand and salt blasts. The flowers attract native bees and wasps and the trees provide bird habitat. Research collected by the WA Museum shows fifteen species of native bee have been observed collecting pollen and nectar from Rottnest teatrees. A small butterfly, a common grass blue is sipping nectar from a flower in the picture.
