Party time and thanks to Greg

2013 has been a busy and successful year for Cottesloe Coastcare.

Our Chairman, Mike Ewing briefly spoke about the achievements of the year at our recent Christmas party – held on the main lawn at our beautiful Civic Centre. Mike also presented a gift and a plaque to Greg Boland to acknowledge all he has done for Cottesloe Coastcare and for our town. Greg was a Town of Cottesloe Councillor for a total of 9 years, until mid 2013. During all the years since 1998 Greg served on CCA’s committee and while he was a Councillor he had the role of Town of Cottesloe Council representative to CCA.

CCA committee members loved working with Greg and we are all extremely grateful for his enthusiastic and professional representation of our interests to the Council. His advocacy on behalf of Cottesloe Coastcare was an important component in the good relationship we have created with our local government. This active partnership is vital for our work to continue. We now welcome Cr. Jay Birnbrauer as the Council representative on CCA’s committee.

We had a lovely picnic evening as the sun set over the ocean.

During 2013 the rain was well timed for our planting efforts and so far the seedlings are growing well. Over 3000 local provenance seedlings were planted in May and June and we hope that a high percentage survives their first challenging summer.

As ever we are very keen to welcome others who may like to join us. There is a job for everyone. In January, for example there is plenty of seed to clean – a job that can even be done while watching TV!

We look forward to another good year in 2014.
