‘I love Cottesloe coast’ Facebook launched

We love Cottesloe Coast– beach clean & picnic & Facebook page launch

When: Saturday, 26 October 2013 – 10am to 12pm
Where: The Cove surf break – south of Cottesloe main beach

On a perfect late Spring Day we had the best beach clean up ever! I say ‘the best’ because although we have been cleaning the beach regularly for many years it is usually a feel good exercise but not exactly eveyone’s idea of lots of fun. However, throw in some music to the mix, picnic blankets, 1970’s lilos and 45 willing rubbish collectors – many young, everyone enthusiastic and full of passion for the coast. This all equated to a fun rubbish pick up.

Jenita co-ordinated the event with Tangoroa Blue, the Perth chapter of Surfriderand the Wilderness society. It was also the launch of the ‘I love Cottesloe coast’ Facebook site, which has now morphed into the Cottesloe Coastcare Facebook site!

After the (far too many kilos) of rubbish had been weighed we sat around on picnic rugs under the marquee and enjoyed some music and shared snacks. We soaked up the glorious views, watched the surfers at Cove and we  also enjoyed the much cleaner beach below our tent!
