Sculpture by the Sea

As part of our involvement with local community events, we have supported the annual Sculpture by the Sea exhibitions in Cottesloe for some 10 years, contributing many volunteer hours selling catalogues in marquees.

Kate wins National Landcare award!

We are all really pleased that Kate Sputore won the Innovative Young Landcare Leader Award at the 2014 National Landcare Awards.

Walking not weeding

We keep very busy hand weeding at our project sites in the springtime. Again this year I organised a bush walk for Cottesloe Coastcare volunteers as a fun change from getting together only to toil among the weeds!

Coastcare for Singles May 2014

Coastcare for Singles’ was great fun and an extraordinary effort by more than 30 people in the rain and wind on the central Cottesloe foreshore.

Malcolm Hay receives Cottesloe award

During May 2014 Malcolm Hay received a volunteer award at the annual volunteers cocktail party at Town of Cottesloe’s Town Hall.

Frauke – our Citizen of the Year

We are delighted that Frauke Chambers has been recognised as the Cottesloe Citizen of the Year for 2014. The award was announced at the Australia Day Ceremony held at the Cottesloe Civic Centre on a balmy Sunday morning.

2013 has been a busy and successful year for Cottesloe Coastcare. Our Chairman, Mike Ewing briefly spoke about the achievements of the year at our recent Christmas party – held on the main lawn at our beautiful Civic Centre.

Kate Sputore wins prestigious Landcare award

Congratulations Kate! Cottesloe Coastcare volunteers join other northern suburbs Coastal volunteers who work under Kate Sputore’s ‘wing’  to congratulate her on the Landcare award she received this week.

And the ospreys came too….

45 people and 4 ospreys joined us for our Heritage Walk at Mudurup Rocks on Saturday April 20th.

Join us on our heritage walk

Mudurup Rocks is a special place on the Cottesloe coast. Its rocks tell of changing sea levels over thousands of years – as recently as 7000 years ago you could walk to Rottnest. For the Indigenous people it was  a special  fishing place – “the place of the yellow-finned whiting”.

Cottesloe’s Citizen of the Year 2013

Cottesloe Coastcare volunteers were delighted that our Chairman Mike Ewing was awarded the  honour of  Cottesloe Citizen of the Year at the Australia Day citizenship and annual awards ceremony on January 26th 2013.
